Psychotherapy to Improve Health
During the past 20 years I have worked with patients being
treated for a variety of medical disorders including eating disorders,
gastrointestinal disorders, panic disorders, chronic pain, and terminal
disease. In addition, I have worked extensively with patients suffering
from depression and those with depressive symptoms. In most cases, I
work in conjunction with a physician to help patients obtain the
benefits of both medication and psychotherapy. [top]
Couple Therapy
I enjoy working
with couples and this concentration usually accounts for about 60% of
my practice. Although my approach to working on relationship issues
tends to be cognitive and behavioral I also check for the influence of
health problems in families. Again, depression is often a related issue
and may be addressed in couples therapy. [top]
Depression at Work
The recent
pattern of "reorganizations" in business has forced many people to deal
with depression and anxiety associated with job loss and the process of
getting re-employed. I have worked with clients to help them learn to manage
their depression and anxiety so they can move more quickly through this
difficult transition. [top]
