Since 1989, I have
primarily worked with children,
adolescents, young adults, and their
families to address a variety of emotional
and behavioral problems. Some common
problem areas include:
- Behavior Management
for ADHD
- Bedtime/Morning
Routines
- Sleep
Disturbance
- Toilet
Training
- Getting Along With
Others
- Marital
Stress/Separation/Divorce of
Parents
- Depression
- Anxiety
- School/Special
Education
- Oppositional and
Defiant Behavior
- Grief and
Loss
My therapeutic style
combines relationship oriented, cognitive,
and behavioral methods. Direct work with
young children frequently involves play
therapy which gives them an opportunity to
work through issues that are difficult to
talk about and/or poorly understood.
Another important emphasis of the
treatment involves coaching parents to
help them improve their parenting and
behavior management skills. I also work
with parents to help them resolve "left
over" issues or habits that interfere with
effective parenting.
In addition to
psychotherapy and counseling, I have an
extensive background in psychological
assessment with children, adolescents and
adults, including evaluation of learning
disabilities, emotional and psychological
problems, and personality style. Technical
jargon is minimized so that reports are
understandable to parents and school staff
while providing needed information to
other professionals such as psychiatrists,
primary care physicians, and other
psychotherapists.
Flexible scheduling is
available, including evening and weekend
hours. Services are offered on a sliding
fee scale when needed. Some of the
insurance companies that have covered my
services include:
- Anthem
- Aetna
- City of
Austin/ERISA
- Crime Victim's
Compensation
- Federal
Express
- Health Smart
- John Deere
- Metra Health
